The security of our applications depends not only on the code we write and the configuration of our environments. Every library we use to build an application, every piece of software running on our servers, and even the firmware of the devices we rely on can affect security. Even the architecture of the processors on which our applications run can have an impact on their security.
In my presentation, I will explore application security in the context of dependencies and the software supply chain. I will focus on web applications and Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms, although many of the topics discussed will also apply to other areas.
